Age of Innocence

I went to see the new Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, today.

I'm a big HP fan and not afraid to say it. I've read all the books, I rushed out to buy book 5 (The Order of the Phoenix) when it was released, I've seen all the movies.

Something ocurred to me today, during the screening. Actually, re-ocurred would be a better description. Seeing movies with kids.

I've been to a lot of movies, and everyone is usually silent. It's an etiquette we learn very early on I think. Kids haven't yet learnt it though. Which makes going to a movie with large numbers of kids, especially a day one release, great fun.

They boo and hiss at the bad guys, wail with laughter, cheer and applaud and aah at every moment. They get so heavily into the story they hide behind their hands, tremble with fright and leap with excitement.

It makes cinema-going a completely different, far more magnificent experience. The awe and wonder they feel becomes infectious.

So, my advice, wait for a Saturday matinee and go watch a kids movie today.
