If music be the food of love, play on.



I’m not entirely sure why I quoted that. Maybe because it bears a passing relevance to this post, maybe because I’m a pretentious twit, maybe just because I could. Perhaps a bit of all three. I just did, okay. Anyway, I, like a great many people, am a fan of music, but I haven’t bought much of late, not because I haven’t heard stuff I’ve liked, but rather because I haven’t either remembered the songs, the artists or for some other obscure reason.

So, I ask for your help with the following:


  1. As I said, I haven’t bought much of late, but I would like to pick up some new artists. I don’t really enjoy R&B or Hip Hop, I like mainstream Rap (like Eminem for example), though I wouldn't say I love it, and pretty much anything else is fair game. Some of my favourite artists are: Dido, Moby, Linkin Park, Queen, U2, REM, Sting


  2. I would like to explore classical music more, but haven’t got a clue where to start. I have obviously been exposed to the mainstream classics, but I’m sure there’s more out there. I’m not sure whether to look at compilations, or a site, or listen to other peoples recommendations, but I’d like to start somewhere.


  3. Likewise, I have started to find Jazz intriguing, so I’d like to know more about it, the classics, the masters, etc.




Any suggestions, recommendations and advice would be very welcome and highly appreciated.
