WriAShorStorWe Update

1 Nov, 2005 | Written WordTdp

Okay, my lack of posting could be down to me writing furiously for the previously mentioned Write a Short Story Week (WriAShorStorWe), or it could be down to the fact that I've been busy and what time I've had I've spent reading Eldest (review shortly).

Anyway, for those interested, Matthew over at Defective Yeti has got a dedicated site up and running over at www.wriashorstorwe.org.

Originally, due to reading Eragon not so long ago and currently reading Sabriel by Garth Nix, I was in the mood for a fantasy tale, something with priests battling demons in something loosely inspired by Shadowmancer. Then a friend of mine told me to 'try something quirky this time - base it on life & scrunch it!' I'm not entirely sure what that means, but my mum has long said I should write a TV show about the IT support world (I'm loath because I'm not sure there's that much material), so I thought I might try something along those lines, something with comedy, but I'm not sure I'm going to have the time to write 5000 words.

I have been meaning to put up some of the stuff I have doodled about with over the years (I'm so not a completer-finisher, I do something until something else comes along and then it's 'oh, look, shiney,' and I'm off), so I'm thinking of re-drafting/tidying up a story I already have. It's a pirate story I wrote on the back of getting hyped by Pirates of the Caribbean (Keira Knightley in particular). I just looked at it and it's about 5000 words long, so it seems perfect.

Avast, me hearties. Or something.
